What Is Power of the Purse?

A vibrant spring fundraiser that brings together sustainable shopping, silent and live auctions, and a fun dinner—all in support of local women’s well-being. Guests enjoy unique purses, jewelry, and auction items while raising funds and awareness for women’s and community health.

Why It Matters

  • Empowerment – Celebrating Soroptimist’s mission to uplift women and girls.

How the Event Works

  • Donations – Purses, handbags, jewelry, and more are generously given by community members and sponsors.
  • Shop & Bid – Guests browse treasures and bid on unique pieces in lively auctions.
  • Dinner & Connection – Enjoy a meal, drinks, and a festive night out with friends.
  • Stories That Inspire – Hear  how the funds are making a difference, with storytelling, silent auctions, or visual presentations. 

Benefiting Vital Community Projects

 

Proceeds from the 2025 event were raised to benefit the Whatever It Takes (WIT) Fund, managed by the Langley Community Health & Hospital Foundation. The WIT Fund helps fill critical gaps for patients who face financial or logistical barriers as they transition from hospital to home. It supports needs such as:

  • Transportation 
  • Home support services
  • Medication organization
  • Short-term practical assistance


By addressing these needs, the WIT Fund helps reduce hospital readmissions, preserve dignity, and promote smoother recovery.
